qznE5a9yG_Tk0mGyfhdv6qQ6Xoj6S1_YJyRAkafsYz4Opening a new model home is a remarkable challenge! Our goals are not only to shine with our best first impression but to set ourselves apart as a quality, creative team of people who desire to build homes that families love and stand the test of time!

The concept of this home evolved as many bright minds poured their talents and hearts into an idea. How could we create a home that lives and flows well while drawing on the interesting architectural details of the past? How could we blend the modern amenities of a well-appointed kitchen and master bath seamlessly with vintage wall treatments and simple furnishings? How could we create a fresh look for the farmhouse vernacular that stays true to the continuity of Riverwalk’s community?

After many months of hard work… our doors have opened with a home that was thoughtfully created to blend charm and character with a practical, livable and fresh perspective for today’s family .  Each space has architectural points of interest that showcase what we do best…”create homes for families that have interest and desires that are beyond cookie cutter”.  Each space belongs and fits together to make sense – making a collection of rooms a home.

The abundance of interior trim work is evident from the moment you enter the front door. Wide 12” baseboards and miles of v-groove wall board in our “Sullivan” style accent the formal areas. Operable interior shutters, 5 panel doors, “Summerville” 1 x8” shiplap siding and even 8’ barn doors are shown. The stone fireplace , double front porches and outdoor living areas add to the charm as the large laundry, upstairs family room and walk in master shower speak to the practicality of the home.

Experiencing this lovely home first hand will surprise you! At first glance the clean simple furnishings disguise just how much detail is present. While this home is uniquely a model that showcases our personality, each and every one of our homes has the same labor of love poured into them. As a team, we care about what we do and for whom we do it!

We look forward to welcoming many families into our sophisticated farmhouse and having the opportunity to share ideas about how Evans Coghill can build just the right home for you and yours!

Staying current in the ever changing home design industry requires homework and (Hooray!) field trips!

Besides sharing ideas with our team and home buyers…discovering and rubbing elbows with “creatives” are some of my favorite days at work!

I am beyond excited to be working on a new model home in our amazing RiverWalk community! This well-planned, beautifully executed community is exploding with new homes. Houses are selling like hotcakes in this charmingly active community and Evans Coghill is thrilled to be such an integral part of its success.

The new model home has a southern style 2 story porch with plenty of charm to make you want to linger late into those summer evenings! Oh! And the dining room has double glass doors onto the lower porch that expands the casual Sunday dinners for lots of family and friends to share. Never mind the sky lit master bath with a “to die for” spa shower!

The list of wonderful options in this home goes on and on!  I am excited, can you tell?!  And to top it all off…I get to furnish this lovely for y’all to stop in and see!

High Point Furniture market was stop #2 after the Architectural Digest Home and Design Show in New York. Lucky us that we live in the Carolinas and have the home market industry in our back pocket!

There is no spoiler alert: As my lips are sealed…but let me just say, this is going to be good! Think sophisticated casual: functional, organized, comfortable and beautiful!

Take a peek at some of the great designs I found at Market and mark your calendars for a big unveiling in the Fall!

In the meantime…visit RiverWalk and see what we are up to! The Charleston Plan is underway, electrical wiring and plumbing trades are roughing in the home right now. You will love seeing the progress and then the completed project! Watch us build or better yet…build with us!

New York’s Architectural Digest Home & Design Show Recap!

Take aways:

  1. Integration of outdoor living with the design of the home should be created as a part of the whole concept, not as an afterthought. One space should flow into the other seamlessly. Soft goods and furnishings should mimic the style of the rest of the home and keep the integrity of design so the spaces knit together in harmony.
  2. Outdoor kitchens shouldn’t duplicate the elaborate ease of the indoor kitchen instead they should serve as a way to meet the needs of cooking outdoors with simplicity. Remember the environment is the STAR not the built-in full-sized stainless fridge!

The demand for exterior built in appliances is becoming more mainstream in the South as our climate allows for more time outdoors. However, this trend may have a short lifespan…so plan accordingly. Best advice: Keep it simple.

  1. Organic materials were prevalent and remain classic treasures. People identify with what nature offers. The challenge is to blend the textures and colors into a space where a streamlined more modern approach is predominant.

I’m not referencing shells as a beach house theme…I mean blending organic wooden shapes, natural stones, and even water elements into the home design. Cool organic light fixtures were everywhere at the New York show. Artist are crazy about the sense of style these bring to a home.

  1. Bathrooms and kitchens are getting sleeker and more refined. Less layering and more streamlined are the continuing trends. Think: Flat front cabinetry, floating sinks and toilets, large islands serving multiple uses…workstation, dining, office along with food prep.
  2. The Home design and interior furnishings industry is creative and innovative filled, with talented people that introduce beauty and function to us for our daily lives. I loved the innovation award winners highlighted throughout the show…shape, color and texture were all big hits! We have great new designs coming our way that will help us live more efficiently and with more comfort in an aesthetically appealing way.
