Evans Coghill Homes Welcomes the Weiss Family to McLean!

Categories: Belmont, Homeowners | Posted: June 26, 2018 | Comments Off on Evans Coghill Homes Welcomes the Weiss Family to McLean!

The Evans Coghill Homes team loves nothing more than seeing our homeowners settle into their new homes. We’re sharing a few words of wisdom from one special couple, Dennis and Marianne Weiss, who are our first Evans Coghill Homes homeowners of Overlake at McLean. This couple truly knows the meaning of preserving what’s important, from family values to gracious living, and beyond!

Why did you start looking for a new home?

We were in town for our son’s wedding and knew that we wanted to move closer to him. So we really started our home search while we were in town. We had been looking online and even worked with a long distance realtor.

How did you first hear/see/read about Evans Coghill Homes?

We initially looked at 1-2 homes when we arrived, but felt the homes were too close. We saw the Evans Coghill Homes website and decided to look at the neighborhood. Of course, there’s an abundance of builders out there, but Evans Coghill Homes really stood out — even on the internet!

Why did you choose Evans Coghill Homes over another builder?

Evans Coghill Homes offers a great product and ideal lots. We can also envision what McLean is going to look in the future! We can tell that there’s great potential for this neighborhood. Also, the HOA is low and will ensure that owners take care of homes. There’s nothing we have to complain about!

Why did you choose the McDowell floor plan?

We really wanted a single-level home, particularly because we wanted the master bedroom to be on the main floor. The McDowell floor plan offered us single-level living and so much more. We couldn’t be happier with this product, from its gorgeous physical features to its distinct Southern charm.

How is/was your overall experience from start to finish?

So far so good! We haven’t run into any bumps in the road… the process has been smooth sailing! We really loved working with Evans Coghill Homes and we’re so glad that we did.

Would you recommend Evans Coghill Homes to your friends or family looking for a new home?

Absolutely! We couldn’t recommend them more. They were personable and hard-working, and stood by us through the entire process. Their knowledge and expertise keeps them on the ball with every little step. And of course, the home we now live in is the home we’ve always dreamed about.

We want to thank Dennis and Marianne Weiss for being such a joy to work with! We could not be more grateful to have them as our first homeowners at Overlake at Mclean, and we’re so glad that incredible people like Dennis and Marianne are there to fill it with heart.

Love to entertain? Here are some tips for designing a party-perfect home!

Categories: Communities, Design Tips, Homeowner Tips, Homeowners | Posted: October 13, 2017 | Comments Off on Love to entertain? Here are some tips for designing a party-perfect home!

Every family has different interests and priorities for their new home. For those who love to entertain, creating a space that can become “party central” is key. Regardless of what kind of entertaining you like to do, there are some design guidelines that will help you create the perfect space to host your family and friends.

  • If you’re building a new home, remember that flexibility is essential. Plan spaces that are adaptable to large parties, cozy get-togethers or quiet dinners. Choose furniture that is adaptable, too.
  • Make your guests feel welcome from the moment they arrive. Have a place to put coats and bags. Make sure they know where the food & drink are. Have an easily accessible powder room on the main level.
  • Whether you entertain often or only once a year, keep your entertaining essentials (platters, glasses, special dishes, silverware) organized and ready to use. Keep it somewhere that’s easy to access (pantry, closet, cabinet) and altogether so you don’t have to go rummaging around.
  • Functionality. If you have an open floor plan, maximize its usefulness. Move furniture to create open flow, create flexible seating areas, make the rooms multi-functional – eating, chatting, etc.
  • If you prefer formal, sit-down affairs, make sure you have a table that can extend to fit guests comfortably. And a room that has enough space for that table as well as chairs, and a buffet or sideboard for presenting food.
  • Lighting and music add so much to the festivities. Don’t forget to set the tone with appropriate background music and mood lighting.
  • Kid Zone. If you have a basement, turn it into a game or rec room. Give the kids somewhere to go to get away from the adults – or somewhere for the guys to go and watch the game. May it contain a bar, pool table, other games, and a huge TV.
  • Go Outside. Create a nice, open entry to your deck, patio, or porch through large sliding glass doors, screen doors, etc. to create a natural indoor/outdoor flow. Make sure it’s set up with ample seating and tables, and encourage people to mosey from inside to outside by putting food and activities in both places.

No matter which Evans Coghill Homes home plan you have chosen, these fun entertaining ideas can be put into practice without a problem!

Over the years, Charlotte, North Carolina, has become a definite magnet for Millennials. Thanks to its designation as a first-rate employment center, young, educated people are flocking to the region – and taking full advantage of the culture, lifestyle, and gorgeous scenery.

At Evans Coghill Homes, we can’t argue with Charlotte’s allure. In fact, it’s one of the obvious reasons that Riverwalk in Rock Hill, SC, has been such a hit with millennial buyers. It’s an easy commute to Charlotte, and there’s certainly no shortage of things to do at Riverwalk itself, and in the surrounding region.

Located on the banks of the Catawba River, Riverwalk is a planned 1,008-acre village that is an extension of the historic City of Rock Hill. The master plan for Riverwalk includes a YMCA and athletic fields, a Town Center, a River District, professional office space, along with residential neighborhoods, all thoughtfully connected and complemented by pedestrian and cycle friendly streetscapes and trails.

As far as activities go, there are an incredible number of ways to spend your time at Riverwalk – the Rock Hill Outdoor Center, BMX Track, Giordana Velodrome Bicycle Race Track, and walking trails galore. And the new amenity center and pool will be ready by Spring of 2018! Whether you enjoy relaxing outdoors or the adrenaline-rush of heart-pumping activities, Riverwalk offers something for everyone.

If you’re looking to start a new life in the Greater Charlotte area and would like to join the millennial migration, check out Evans Coghill’s homes at Riverwalk. We have a variety of homes available at many price points.
