Boral Cultured Stone offers so many popular colors for our homeowners. Today, Chris Folk and I went to see how it is was made and learn more about the 50 year warranty.

Curiosity is a great thing especially when it leads to establishing new relationships that enhance our homes!

Today, Chris Folk and I had the unique opportunity to not only visit but learn first- hand what makes Boral Cultured Stone one of the premier stone fabricators in the country.

Located in our backyard of Chester SC, Boral Cultured Stone employs over 400 men and women producing stone so durable and innovative that it holds a 50 year warranty!  (Chris likes this!)

The great color combinations are what attracted me!

Boral introduces new colors every year based on marketing trends and analysis!  A company that acts quickly to what the market wants is huge!

However  shape, size and stone mixture also play a big part in the way this element  pulls together the look of the house.  Boral has at least 6 stone types with endless combinations of blends so home buyers can customize the look to fit their own tastes…nothing cookie cutter about this.

Evans Coghill  uses stone in both interiors and exteriors to enliven the space and introduce texture.

In both fireplaces pictured, the stone detail adds visual weight and emphasis.  The stone work definitely brings drama to the family rooms in both of these homes!

TV Remote Controls and Thermostats

Categories: Good Info to Know, New Building Products, New Ideas For New Homes | Posted: February 26, 2014 | Comments Off on TV Remote Controls and Thermostats

Depending on your age, you will either get this or will not. There was a point in time when controlling the TV meant a trip across the room to turn a knob to the next channel. Enter the remote control and we found life was better and more comfortable to stay where you are and control the TV. In fact, the knobs on new TVs are now disappearing around the side or bottom making the entire thing look better, too.

You know that thermostat on the wall of your home? It likely is still like the old TV. If you want to change it, you get up walk across the room or house and change the settings. Can you imagine walking across the room to control your TV? You wouldn’t do it. But, you still do it to control your your comfort.

All that is changing now. Honeywell has introduced a line of connected thermostats.

What is a connected thermostat? It is a thermostat that is wirelessly connected to your smartphone! Now your home is like your TV. You can can control your comfort from wherever you and your phone are in your home or anywhere in the world!

Alan Banks of Evans Coghill Homes takes a look at the Honeywell WiFi connected thermostat and old flip phones.

Honeywell is the leading manufacturer of controls for heating and cooling equipment. Evans Coghill has trusted the comfort of all of our homes to Honeywell thermostats for many years. We are proud to offer two different WiFi connected thermostats as options in your new home.

Alan learned all about the line up thermostats and their advantages at the recent International Builders Show in Las Vegas. Thank you Honeywell for the education!
