Categories: Buying a Home | Posted: May 20, 2010 | Comments Off on Home Prices Going Up? They Say So…

Home prices in the US are projected to go up. This is good news from a credible source.  The Wall Street Journal reported on May 19, 2010 “The analysts surveyed by MacroMarkets on average expect home prices, as measured by the S&P/Case-Shiller national index, to rise about 12% in the five years ending Dec. 31, 2014. ”

What does this mean in real numbers? Buy a home today for $350,000 it could be worth $392,000 or $42,000 more by Christmas 2014. Remember, no is guarantee this will happen.

The exciting part of this news is the projected number – 12%. This is a very encouraging prediction and finally one that is not predictng price decreases.

How can this happen? Read the article for their reasoning. Home Price Recovery Expected in 2010.

Where Else Do You Build Homes?

Categories: Good Info to Know | Posted: May 10, 2010 | Comments Off on Where Else Do You Build Homes?

Currently, Evans Coghill Homes primarily builds in one neighborhood – Baxter Village. Why only one neighborhood? Because in these slower times, that neighborhood, Baxter Village, continues to out sell other neighborhoods in the Charlotte area.

Frequently, we receive calls from developers and property owners who need financially stable home builders to build homes in their neighborhood. We are flattered to be asked; but, find ourselves having to decline the offers. The home site prices are very reasonable and in some cases a steal but the risk factor is too high for us.

We have been able to endure and will continue to endure this downturn due to sound fiscal practices and decisions. A trend we plan to continue.

Evans Coghill Homes has been a good compliment to Baxter Village. We don’t plan on leaving this great neighborhood until it is complete.

Are we considering other neighborhoods to build in?

We would consider adding another community to our portfolio as long as the fiscal practices, values and guidelines are parallel those of Evans Coghill Homes. Do you know of a neighborhood we should consider building homes in? Please let us know.

WBTV recently ran a locally produced show on things you can do to  Go Green. It was a great production with several suggestions from saving water to building a green home. Some of the ideas can be done right now with no real expense.

Our own Forrest Ranson, had a segment on the show covering some aspects of green building. One of our home owners was, also, included in front of their own very green home.

Take  look at the show on WBTV’s website. Go to segment #7 to see his part. Let us know what you think.
