Next up in our series of team member blogs is Taylor Bennett. He just joined us as our new Warranty Manager. Taylor is on the front lines of our Customer Service department, answering requests, making sure homeowners understand their warranties, and helping them with claims and other issues. If you have a question, chances are you’ll be talking to Taylor!
What brought you to Evans Coghill Homes?
My wife made a career move with Duke Energy. I did some research through the local HBA, and found Evans Coghill. It seemed like a good company, with a great reputation in the HBA.
What’s your favorite part of the job so far?
I like that I get to interact with everyone on the Evans Coghill team – the owners, trade partners, team, etc.
Were you always working in home building?
I’ve been in the industry since about 2003. I was an Education Management major, but after college, I fell into carpentry during the housing boom. Then I got married, and started my own company doing custom remodels and new construction. I did some sub-contracting work, working directly with my clients.
I’m also an NAHB Certified Green Professional. I think the NAHB’s Certified Green program is a more realistic approach to green building. It distills the requirements down so the average homebuilder/remodeler can afford to include the certifications.
Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Greensboro, NC, then went to Western Carolina University and spent the next 18 years in Cullowhee. (Maybe I’ll spend the next 18 years in Charlotte!)
What do you do on a day off?
Anything that lets me be outside! I love to play golf or go hiking. I have a passion for landscaping… I love to have my hands in the dirt!
What should people know about you?
I like to be around people. I love having a problem solve. I like the challenge of getting things figured out. It’s always satisfying to me to help people solve a problem. And it’s ok if I don’t know the answer right off… I like having to figure it out!
